In Treatment Season 3 Coming in 2010

I’m in serious catch-up mode on my news feeds, and I can’t believe this gem has been sitting unread. Production is set to begin on a third season of HBO’s In Treatment, starring Gabriel Byrne as our favorite therapist. The caliber of acting and writing on this show is well worth the subscription to HBO, so I can’t wait for the show to come back next year.

Scrubs and Better Off Ted Are Back in December

According to The Hollywood Reporter, ABC is going to breathe some much-needed life into the Tuesday night lineup when Scrubs and Better Off Ted return to the schedule this December. Scrubs is set to premiere its new formula with a double-dose on December 1st, and Ted returns for a second season on December 8th.

I’m looking forward to seeing this new version of Scrubs. I think a mixing up the cast and refreshing the premise is exactly the kind of change they need to give the show a chance at gaining an audience.

I’m not really sure how well these two shows pair with V, which airs in the slot before them, but it probably doesn’t matter anyway. The only chance Scrubs and Better Off Ted have to garner any ratings is by reaching an audience as counter-programming for smash hit spinoff NCIS:Los Angeles.

House Season 6 Episode 5: Brave Heart

Okay, this parkour thing has gone far enough. I draw the line when I fast forward through the opening of my favorite show because I think it must be a Mountain Dew commercial. Once I hit rewind and started over, I must admit it was a pretty cool change of pace for an opening of House. The changes kept coming as Chase continued to wrestle with the Dibala case and House continued on the road to recovery.

The Big Bang Theory Season 3 Episode 5: The Creepy Candy Coating Corollary

Kevin Sussman has only appeared as Stuart on a few episodes of TBBT, but from his first scene I knew the comic book store proprietor was the perfect foil to Jim Parsons’s Sheldon. Stuart’s oh-so-gentle mocking of and ambivalence toward Sheldon are exactly what’s needed to drop him down a peg or two. I thought it wasn’t possible to create a better nemesis for Sheldon.

I was wrong.

Tonight, a “delightfully evil” Wil Wheaton appeared in a classic episode that I hope will lead to more Wheaton guest spots in the future. It’s definitely the hardest I’ve ever laughed at someone killing a bunny.

If you’re not familiar with it, Wheaton has a great blog where he shares his perspective as an actor turned writer/actor. He already shared a brief post about creating the episode, and he’ll have a more in-depth report on the shoot during the next week. It’s a great look from the perspective of a fan of the show, an affection that I think was the key to Wheaton’s great performance tonight.
