RIP Patrick Swayze
The best way I can think of to pay tribute the late Patrick Swayze is to encourage you to read this great article from Noel Murray at The Onion A.V. Club. It was published in 2007 prior to the disclosure of Swayze’s battle with cancer, but the wisdom derived from his legacy holds true.

I will always remember Patrick Swayze’s performances in “Dirty Dancing” and “Ghost.”
Keep on dancing, Johnny Castle! What footwork all his inspired career and life long. — BadWitch
My daughter broke into tears when we told her. Dirty Dancing is her favorit movie.
Another talented star gone. May he rest in peace and may his death be an inspiration in finding a cure for pancreatic cancer. As he said earlier this year “I want to last until they find a cure, which means I’d better get a fire under it.”
Instead of the government giving all these bailouts why is there not more done for cancer research. There is a private war going on its called cancer. We were all praying for Patric to have a better outcome. He is in heaven dancing with the angels. God bless him and his wife. We are all sad to hear of his death. It is a sad day.
Thanks for this post and thanks in particular for the link to the av club article. It was brilliant. Although I didn’t follow his career as much as perhaps I should’ve done, I know he left a legacy of work which will be of comfort to all those who mourn him at this time. At least he can rest easy now.
I realized there was one more video that needed to be included here. It’s the classic SNL sketch with Swayze and Farley competing for a job at Chippendale’s. Enjoy.
OMG he died? I didn’t know dat. Shoulda read the paper. R.I.P
Lovely article from Noel Murray, thanks for the link. I was devastated to hear the news.
